Thank you to Tony Wilson (ex Marketing Communications) for sending these photographs taken in 1975.
Picture
Tony with Robin Nye and John Withers (and unable to remember the name of fourth chap). We were all having a relaxing lunchtime glass of ale in the pub that used to be available in the SMBP forecourt. Robin Nye is now a published author of three books in the mystery thriller genre. John Withers went to South Africa on an appointment for Shell International and took redundancy at the end of his two year appointment to start his own Advertising Agency.
Picture
Tony looking rather pensive at being photographed unexpectedly.
Picture
Tony with Robin and John again, playing cards at lunchtime, probably on a rainy day when we were unable to take a walk in the Embankment Gardens.
Picture
Tony with John Dodds, another colleague  from Mktg Comms who moved on to other things. and we sadly lost track of each other.

Kelvin Dakin has sent us this photograph, passed down through his family, of a large group of Shell Mex employees taken by Commercial Studios of Northgate Street, Ipswich. Kelvin's great uncle Sid Cobb is on it –  he worked for the company in Ipswich. Kelvin thinks the photograph was taken around the 1930's.
He doesn't know much else about it except it was labelled on the back by his mother as "Shell Mex employees".  Sid was her uncle and worked for the company. Sidney Kenneth Cobb was born in 1904 and died in 1971.  He lived in Bramford.

If anyone knows anything more about the photo please get in touch and we will pass any information on to Kelvin.
